When adding an AppleTalk or TCP/IP printer in Print Setup Utility (or PrintCenter on Mac OS X versions prior to 10.3), displaying the list of printers may take several seconds to complete.
Printer Sharing -- The driver on both the client and server computers should be the same version. Use of different driver versions may result in unexpected print outputs and/or applications quitting.
On Mac OS X versions prior to10.3:
- Automatic two sided printing may not work properly on documents with an odd number of pages for some printers
- The print dialog’s “Preview' function will not reflect many print settings, including layout, borders, print quality, page size and color selections.
- Printer status information may be intermittent at times. All users should make sure that the printer is properly connected and ready for printing before starting a print job.
Unable to view HP printer help in the Help Viewer
A version of the printer’s user guide is available in the Help Viewer. However, if you open the printer’s user guide in the Help Viewer and see a blank window, the Help Viewer preferences files or cache might be corrupted.
To fix the corrupted preferences or cache, complete the following steps:
Quit Help Viewer if it is open.
Open your Home > Library > Preferences folder.
If this folder contains any of the following files, move the file to the Trash:
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
Open your Home > Library > Caches folder.
Move the com.apple.helpui folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash.
Note: The next time you open Help Viewer, the Library menu or the HelpCenter might list Help for only a few applications. However, the next time you open applications that provide Help in the Help Viewer, the Help will again be listed in the Library menu or HelpCenter.
